La Maison Tahan prit de lampleur et sinstalla sous le Second Empire sur lun des boulevards à la mode, le boulevard des Italiens de 1866 à 1878. Tahan devint lors lun des fournisseurs du Roi Louis-Philippe puis de lEmpereur Napoléon III et lImpératrice Eugénie. Il exécuta pour les palais impériaux de nombreuses tables, vitrines, coffrets et autres objets décoratifs.

La Maison Tahan participa aux Expositions Universelles, où elle fut récompensée par de nombreuses médailles. Une médaille dargent lui fut décernée dès 1849, une seconde à Londres en 1852 et une médaille dor à lExposition Universelle de Paris en 1867. Ses créations sont conservées aujourdhui dans de nombreuses collections dont celles du Château de Compiègne, du Musée de Sèvres. The Court commissioned indeed a large number of works, including rosewood planters, lounge tables for the Palais des Tuileries, and a cabinet in mahogany and gilt bronze for Napoleon IIIs office. Indeed, he collaborates quickly with Julien-Nicolas Rivart to inlay porcelain flowers into his pieces of furniture, which will be one of his preferred vocabulary. It is then a new technique, that places him at the forefront of modernity. A Gold Medal at the Worlds Fair of 1867, Tahan employed more than two hundred employees in several workshops at the end of the Second Empire. Tahan is, like Rivart, an enthusiastic spirit about the inventions of the second half of the 19th century, and himself deposits a patent for the cylinder rack, and another for document holders with translucent facade in 1858. The Tahan Manufactory declines after the fall of the Empire which had supported it so much. Thus, in 1882, the factory ceased production and the store closed its doors.
